Philips LatteGo models suit buyers who want a tube-free milk system. The Magnifica Start and Philips 2200 brew coffee automatically but leave milk frothing to you, an important difference if you expect a cappuccino from one button.

Start with how you want to prepare milk, then compare the drinks you'll actually make.

How we chose automatic espresso machines with milk frothers

We gave priority to milk preparation, cleanup and everyday drink controls. Automatic milk delivery matters more for this search than a long coffee menu, which puts the Evo ahead of models that require manual frothing.

The order favors broad household use, but a lower-ranked machine can suit a specific routine better. A regular-and-decaf household has a clear reason to consider Rivelia, while an occasional cappuccino drinker may prefer a manual frother.

Our super-automatic espresso machine buyer guide explains the wider category. Compare our best super-automatic espresso machines if milk drinks are only one part of your shortlist.

Automatic espresso machines with milk frothers, compared

Choose the milk workflow that matches your morning before comparing recipe counts. The differences below explain who benefits from each machine and when another model makes more sense.

1

De'Longhi Magnifica Evo

De'Longhi Magnifica Evo, automatic espresso machines with milk frothers
Best for everyday milk drinks
9.2/10Our score
  • 7 one-touch or customized drinks
  • LatteCrema milk system
  • Fridge-storable milk carafe
  • My Latte recipe saving

A focused choice for daily cappuccinos and latte macchiatos. The milk carafe can go in the fridge between uses, and My Latte lets you save a personal recipe.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Fridge-storable milk carafe
  • Saved My Latte recipe
  • Automatic frothing for milk alternatives

Cons

  • No included cold-foam system
  • Milk carafe still needs cleaning

The Magnifica Evo suits someone whose normal order is a cappuccino or latte macchiato and who wants the machine to prepare the milk. Its LatteCrema system handles dairy milk and milk alternatives, with a carafe you can refrigerate between uses.

The seven one-touch or customized options include black coffee drinks, iced coffee and My Latte. Saving a personal My Latte recipe is useful when your preferred milk-to-coffee balance differs from a preset.

This is the strongest starting point if you want automatic milk preparation without a large recipe menu. Set your usual drink first, then make small changes instead of switching settings every morning.

Refrigerated storage makes it easier to put unused milk away promptly, but it doesn't replace washing the carafe. Leave room near the machine to detach milk parts and carry them to the sink.

Skip the Evo if cold foam is essential. The Duo includes that capability, while a manual-frother machine suits someone who wants to texture and pour milk themselves.

2

De'Longhi Magnifica Duo

De'Longhi Magnifica Duo, automatic espresso machines with milk frothers
Best for cold foam fans
9.1/10Our score
  • 20 preset hot and iced recipes
  • LatteCrema Hot and Cool
  • Cold Extraction Technology
  • Integrated conical burr grinder

Choose the Duo for a routine that includes hot cappuccinos, iced lattes and cold foam. Its drink range also covers drip coffee and cold brew.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Hot and cold milk foam included
  • Separate espresso, drip and cold-brew technologies
  • Works with plant-based milk alternatives

Cons

  • Separate hot and cold milk carafes to manage
  • Broad menu unnecessary for espresso-only drinkers

The Magnifica Duo is the clearest choice for a home that makes hot cappuccinos in winter and cold-foam drinks in summer. LatteCrema Hot and Cool prepare both foam types with dairy milk or plant-based alternatives.

Its 20 presets span espresso, drip coffee, iced lattes and cold brew. Separate brewing technologies serve espresso, drip and cold extraction, so the choice goes beyond adding ice to one coffee recipe.

De'Longhi says its Cold Extraction Technology makes cold brew in under 3 minutes. That feature suits someone who wants a cold-brew option without preparing a batch well ahead of time.

Choose it if several drink styles will get regular use. Keep space for the hot and cold milk carafes, and plan to wash the removable, dishwasher-safe milk components after use.

Skip the Duo if you mainly make hot lattes. The Evo covers that routine with fewer recipe choices, while the Duo's extra carafe and cold-drink functions earn their place through frequent use.

Philips 3200 LatteGo

Philips 3200 LatteGo, automatic espresso machines with milk frothers
Best for simple milk cleanup
8.8/10Our score
  • 5 coffee varieties
  • Two-part tube-free LatteGo
  • Ceramic grinder
  • Removable brew group

The two-part milk system suits buyers who want fewer pieces to wash after a cappuccino. Its menu centers on familiar hot coffees.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • No internal milk tubes
  • Americano included in coffee menu
  • Brew group rinses under the tap

Cons

  • No dedicated iced coffee preset
  • No included cold-foam system

The Philips 3200 LatteGo suits a buyer who wants automatic cappuccinos but dislikes cleaning narrow milk tubes. Its two-part milk system separates for washing, making the milk-contact surfaces easier to reach.

The five coffee choices are espresso, coffee, Americano, cappuccino and latte macchiato. That covers a household built around familiar hot drinks, particularly one where both black coffee and milk drinks are common.

Philips says the milk unit can rinse clean in as little as 15 seconds, and it can also go in the dishwasher. The removable brew group rinses separately under the tap, so allow for both tasks.

The ceramic grinder and My Coffee Choice controls give you ways to work toward your preferred cup. Begin with one familiar recipe rather than changing beans and drink settings together.

Skip the 3200 if you want a dedicated iced coffee preset. The 3300 adds that option; choose the 3200 when its hot menu and simpler milk assembly match your daily habits.

Philips 5500 LatteGo

Philips 5500 LatteGo, automatic espresso machines with milk frothers
Best for varied drink routines
8.7/10Our score
  • 20 hot and iced presets
  • Saved drink preferences
  • Adjustable strength, volume and milk
  • Three-part tube-free LatteGo

A fit for people who regularly switch recipes and want to save drink preferences. The color display brings strength, volume and milk adjustments together.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Wide hot and iced menu
  • Saved drink preferences
  • QuickStart and SilentBrew

Cons

  • More menu range than a fixed routine needs
  • Iced recipes do not include a stated cold-foam feature

The Philips 5500 LatteGo suits people who use several different recipes across the week. Its 20 presets include hot drinks and iced coffee, while the color display lets you adjust strength, volume and milk preferences.

Saved drink preferences help when you want to return to a particular cup without rebuilding it each time. Buy it for combinations you'll use, such as a stronger morning coffee and a milkier afternoon drink.

Philips says QuickStart makes the machine ready to brew in 3 seconds. That describes readiness, so allow additional time for grinding, brewing and milk preparation when planning a busy morning.

SilentBrew adds sound shielding and quieter grinding; Philips says it is 40% quieter than earlier models. The three-part LatteGo system offers tube-free milk cleanup.

Skip the 5500 if you repeat one or two drinks. A shorter menu may cover your routine just as well, and an iced recipe alone isn't a reason to choose it for cold foam.

5

Philips 3300 LatteGo

Philips 3300 LatteGo, automatic espresso machines with milk frothers
Best for familiar iced drinks
8.4/10Our score
  • 6 presets
  • Iced coffee recipe
  • Adjustable milk level
  • Three-part tube-free LatteGo

A short menu covers everyday black coffee, milk drinks and iced coffee. Choose it when you want useful adjustments without a large recipe library.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Dedicated iced coffee preset
  • Adjustable strength, volume and milk
  • Removable brew group

Cons

  • No saved profiles specified
  • No included cold-foam system

The Philips 3300 LatteGo is a practical fit for someone who wants familiar drinks plus an iced coffee option. Its six presets cover espresso, coffee, iced coffee, cappuccino, latte macchiato and hot water.

Strength, volume and milk-level adjustments let you change the balance without choosing from a much larger menu. For a milder latte, start by changing the milk amount rather than making the coffee portion much longer.

The three-part LatteGo system has no internal tubes or hidden compartments. Philips says it rinses clean in 10 seconds, with dishwasher cleaning as another option.

AquaClean filter replacement and guided descaling support the wider care routine. Follow the prompts rather than assuming the milk unit is the only part that needs attention.

Skip the 3300 if saved profiles are a main requirement. The 4400 gives a pair of users separate saved preferences; the 3300 suits someone happy to select a familiar drink and adjust it as needed.

De'Longhi Magnifica Start

De'Longhi Magnifica Start, automatic espresso machines with milk frothers
Best for learning milk frothing
8.1/10Our score
  • 3 one-touch recipes
  • Traditional manual frother
  • 13 grind settings
  • Adjustable coffee intensity

Automatic coffee preparation leaves you free to focus on learning milk frothing. It suits black-coffee drinkers who make occasional lattes themselves.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Americano at one touch
  • Manual frothing for milk alternatives
  • Adjustable grind and intensity

Cons

  • No one-touch milk drinks
  • Frothing and pouring require your attention

The Magnifica Start suits someone who wants automatic coffee preparation while learning to froth milk. Its traditional manual frother leaves milk texture and pouring in your hands.

The three one-touch recipes are espresso, coffee and Americano. Adjustable intensity and a conical burr grinder with 13 settings give black-coffee drinkers useful controls even when they aren't using milk.

This is a sensible match for mostly espresso or Americano with an occasional weekend cappuccino. You avoid handling a milk carafe on coffee-only days, although the frother still needs prompt cleaning whenever you use it.

For milk drinks, allow time to fill a pitcher, froth and pour. Start with cold milk, leave room for expansion and follow the manual's frothing and cleaning sequence.

Skip the Start if you want to press a drink button and have milk dispensed automatically. Its coffee automation doesn't include that step, and making several milk drinks means repeating the manual process.

7

De'Longhi Rivelia

De'Longhi Rivelia, automatic espresso machines with milk frothers
Best for switching bean types
8.0/10Our score
  • 18 preset recipes
  • Automatic LatteCrema Hot
  • Two interchangeable bean hoppers
  • Guided bean adjustments

Interchangeable bean hoppers suit homes that rotate regular coffee, decaf or different roasts. Guided adjustments help you save settings for each bean type.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Two removable bean hoppers
  • Guidance for grind, dose and temperature
  • Extra-shot function

Cons

  • Cold foam requires an optional accessory
  • Bean changes still require the correct switching routine

The Rivelia suits a household that changes beans often enough to value a dedicated switching system. Two interchangeable 8.8 oz bean hoppers make it easier to rotate regular coffee, decaf or different roasts.

Its guided bean adjustments help you set and save grind, dose and temperature choices. That gives bean changes a useful place in the routine instead of requiring you to remember each set of preferences.

The 18 recipes include cortado, flat white and espresso over ice, alongside more familiar drinks. Adjustable intensity, quantity and an extra-shot function give you further control over the coffee portion.

LatteCrema Hot automatically prepares hot foam with milk or plant-based alternatives. Cold foam requires the optional LatteCrema Cool accessory, so choose the Duo if you want both foam types included.

Skip Rivelia if you use the same beans every day. Also follow its bean-switch instructions carefully: changing hoppers shouldn't be treated as proof that no previous grounds remain in the coffee path.

8

Philips 4400 LatteGo

Philips 4400 LatteGo, automatic espresso machines with milk frothers
Best for couples sharing coffee
7.9/10Our score
  • 12 hot and iced presets
  • Two saved profiles
  • Three-part tube-free LatteGo
  • QuickStart and SilentBrew

Two saved profiles suit a pair of coffee drinkers with different preferences. Its menu gives you room to vary drinks without choosing the largest Philips recipe range.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Two saved profiles
  • Adjustable milk level
  • Hot and iced drink choices

Cons

  • Only two saved profiles
  • No included cold-foam system

The Philips 4400 LatteGo suits two coffee drinkers who want to keep different preferences. Its two saved profiles reduce repeated changes to strength, drink volume and milk level.

The 12 presets offer hot and iced choices without moving to the 5500's larger menu. Choose it when both people will use the saved settings and want some room to vary their drinks.

QuickStart and SilentBrew add convenience for shared morning use. Philips describes a 3-second ready-to-brew time and quieter operation than earlier models, but the machine still needs time to prepare each drink.

The three-part milk system separates for rinsing or dishwasher cleaning. Agree on who cleans it after the last milk drink so shared use doesn't turn into dried residue for the next person.

Skip the 4400 if more than two people need separate saved profiles. A solo drinker with a fixed order may also get everything needed from the shorter-menu 3300.

9

Philips 2200 Series

Philips 2200 Series, automatic espresso machines with milk frothers
Best for occasional cappuccino drinkers
7.8/10Our score
  • Classic manual milk frother
  • Espresso, coffee and hot water
  • Adjustable strength and volume
  • Removable brew group

A black-coffee-first choice with a manual frother for occasional milk drinks. Strength and volume adjustments let you tailor the coffee before adding milk.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Manual frother handles milk alternatives
  • Simple coffee menu
  • Removable brew group

Cons

  • No automatic milk recipes
  • No dedicated Americano or iced coffee preset

The Philips 2200 Series suits someone who mostly drinks espresso or coffee and occasionally wants a cappuccino. The classic manual frother prepares milk separately, so you decide when the extra step is worthwhile.

Its presets cover espresso, coffee and hot water, with adjustable strength and volume. That focused menu fits a black-coffee routine better than a household expecting a range of one-touch milk recipes.

The frother works with milk and plant-based alternatives. You can also use it to prepare milk for drinks such as hot chocolate or matcha, following the machine's instructions.

The removable brew group rinses under the tap. Philips says timely AquaClean filter changes can allow up to 5,000 cups between descaling, but filter care doesn't replace cleaning coffee residue or the frother.

Skip the 2200 if automatic cappuccinos are the reason you're buying. Choose a LatteGo model for that workflow, or the Magnifica Start if a dedicated one-touch Americano is a better match for your coffee habits.

Philips 2200 SeriesCheck it on Amazon

How do you choose an automatic espresso machine with milk frother?

Choose by milk workflow, actual drink habits and cleaning access, in that order. Those decisions affect daily use more than a long recipe count.

Automatic espresso machines with milk frothers: automatic or manual milk?

Choose automatic milk preparation if you make milk drinks most days or prepare several in a row. You still fill and clean the milk container, but the machine handles dispensing during the drink cycle.

Choose a manual frother if you enjoy working with the milk or make cappuccinos only occasionally. It needs your attention during frothing and pouring, which matters when you're also preparing breakfast.

A manual frother also gives you a separate milk-preparation step for other drinks. Don't choose one expecting the same workflow as an automatic carafe.

Match the menu to your normal orders

Write down your three most common drinks before comparing machines. A broad menu is useful when it covers real habits, but several rarely used presets shouldn't outweigh easier cleaning.

Check named drinks rather than counting them. Someone who wants an Americano, flat white or cold brew should confirm that exact option instead of assuming every larger menu includes it.

Saved profiles matter most when people prefer different settings for the same drink. A single user can often work comfortably with adjustable controls and a smaller menu.

Check the space around the machine

Measure the counter, then allow room to open lids, refill beans, remove the water tank and detach the milk system. A machine that fits under a cabinet may still be awkward to fill there.

Check your usual cup against the machine's cup clearance before buying. Also plan where a spare carafe, manual-frothing pitcher and drying milk parts will sit.

Do you need iced coffee, cold brew or cold foam?

Choose the Magnifica Duo for included hot and cold foam, and compare iced recipes separately. These drink features solve different needs.

An over-ice recipe brews coffee intended to meet ice, while cold foam prepares the milk topping without heating it. Cold brew uses a different extraction approach, so it shouldn't be treated as another name for either feature.

Decide which part of your favorite cold drink matters. If you usually add cold milk yourself, a dedicated cold-foam system may be unnecessary.

Use enough coffee strength to account for melting ice, and adjust one recipe at a time. Avoid assuming a larger coffee volume will produce a stronger iced drink.

How should you set up your first drinks?

Start with the manual's setup routine and one familiar drink. Complete required rinses, set water hardness as directed and prepare any filter before judging the coffee.

Use fresh drinking water and suitable beans. Our guide to coffee beans for super-automatic espresso machines explains how bean choice affects this type of brewer.

Make an espresso or small black coffee first so you can judge the coffee before adding milk. Then build your usual milk drink and change strength, coffee volume or milk amount one setting at a time.

If a latte tastes weak, reduce the milk amount or increase coffee strength before extending the coffee portion. More water through the coffee can make the drink larger without giving it the balance you want.

For grinder changes, follow the manual's adjustment method and allow several drinks for a change to become clear. Avoid jumping between the finest and coarsest settings after each cup.

Begin milk preparation with cold milk and clean parts. Different milks foam differently, so compare small amounts before filling a whole carafe with a new option.

What care does the milk system need?

Clean milk-contact parts after use according to the manual, even when the machine has an automatic rinse. Prompt care keeps residue from drying in spouts, seals and frother parts.

For removable milk systems, take apart only the pieces identified in the instructions. Wash, rinse and dry them as directed, and put only approved parts in the dishwasher.

Philips' short LatteGo rinse claims describe milk-unit cleanup rather than the entire machine's care. Coffee oils, used grounds, drip trays, water filters and mineral buildup each need their own attention.

For a manual frother, follow the purge and cleaning sequence promptly after frothing. Be careful around hot surfaces and steam, and don't leave milk to dry on the frother.

Store unused milk promptly under its package guidance. A fridge-storable carafe is convenient, but adding fresh milk repeatedly to old residue creates a poor cleaning routine.

Keep a simple schedule for daily tasks, deeper cleaning and descaling prompts. Our Philips LatteGo cleaning guide explains that milk system in more detail.

Which common mistakes should you avoid?

Avoid choosing automatic coffee preparation when you actually need automatic milk preparation. The Start and 2200 require you to make the foam yourself, despite automating the coffee.

Don't judge convenience only by the drink button. Carrying milk from the fridge, washing parts and refilling water remain part of the routine.

Avoid changing beans, grind, strength and milk quantity together. Make one change, repeat the drink and keep a brief note so you can identify what helped.

Don't chase hotter milk by repeatedly reheating it. Follow the machine's temperature options and instructions, and use a warmed cup when appropriate to reduce heat loss.

Finally, don't postpone descaling because the milk system looks clean. Mineral care and milk hygiene address separate parts of the machine.

Which automatic espresso machine with milk frother should you choose?

Choose your automatic espresso machine with milk frother by the job it must do every day. For most milk-drink households, the Magnifica Evo is the starting point; move to the Duo when included cold foam is a firm requirement.

Pick the Philips 3200 for familiar hot drinks and a two-part milk unit. Choose the 3300 for a short menu with iced coffee, the 4400 for two saved preferences, or the 5500 when you regularly use a wider recipe range.

Choose Rivelia when switching beans is central to your routine. Pick the Magnifica Start or Philips 2200 when you want automatic coffee and are happy to froth milk yourself.

Before ordering, narrow the choice to your daily drinks, milk preparation and cleanup routine. Then use our guides to automatic espresso machines with built-in grinders and bean-to-cup coffee machines for home to check the coffee side of your decision.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an automatic milk frother and a manual one?

An automatic milk system prepares and dispenses foam during a selected drink cycle; a manual frother requires you to hold a milk pitcher, texture the milk and pour it yourself. Choose automatic milk preparation for repeated cappuccinos; choose manual frothing if you enjoy controlling that part of the drink.

Which automatic espresso machine has the easiest milk system to clean?

Philips LatteGo is a strong choice for simple milk cleanup because it has no internal milk tubes; the 3200 uses a two-part system, while the other LatteGo models here use three parts. Choose based on a routine you will follow, including disassembly, washing and drying after milk use.

Can these machines froth plant-based milk?

The Magnifica Evo, Duo, Rivelia, Start and Philips 2200 support milk alternatives. Results vary with the drink's protein, fat and stabilizers, so begin with a small amount of your preferred milk; follow its storage guidance and the machine's instructions, then adjust your recipe around the foam it produces.

Do automatic espresso machines with milk frothers make iced drinks?

Several machines here have iced recipes, but iced coffee and cold foam are separate features; the Magnifica Duo includes both hot and cold milk frothing, while the Rivelia needs an optional accessory for cold foam. Choose the exact drink process you want before comparing the number of recipes.

How often should you clean an automatic milk frother?

Clean milk-contact parts after use as directed by the machine's manual, and run any required rinse promptly; milk residue becomes harder to remove when it dries. A carafe that goes in the fridge still needs washing, and an automatic rinse does not replace every cleaning task.
